  • 1985

    A New Dawn

    The story of INFINITI begins with the formation of a top-secret task force within Nissan. It’s mission: to create a new performance luxury brand.


  • 1987

    Brand Created

    The new division is named INFINITI, its name and emblem symbolising the brand’s desire to be always looking forward.


  • 1989

    Brand Launch

    INFINITI launches with 51 dealers opening in the US, selling the breakthrough INFINITI Q45® performance luxury sedan and M30 performance luxury coupé.


  • 1999

    Continued Growth

    INFINITI continues to grow and launches the ‘INFINITI Owners Club’.


  • 2001

    Laser Based Digital Rangefinder

    Always a leader in intelligent engineering, INFINITI was among the first to use a laser-based digital rangefinder to detect vehicles ahead.


  • 2002

    INFINITI Voice Recognition

    Paving the way in responding personally to you, this feature was one of the first to allow drivers to control audio, climate and even navigation settings with only your voice.


  • 2004

    Lane Departure Warning

    The INFINITI FX was the first automobile equipped with this intelligent active technology. A discreet camera near the rear view mirror to help keep track of the distance between vehicles and the divider lines.

    Around View Monitor

    The world's first Around View® Monitor delivers advanced, yet intuitive, technology helping to make parking vehicles easier.


  • 2010

    Blind Spot Intervention System

    An industry first innovation that helps you detect and avoid vehicles in the blind spot area.


  • 2011

    Red Bull Racing

    INFINITI enters Formula One™ as a commercial partner with Red Bull Racing.


  • 2011

    Guinness World Record

    INFINITI'S Q70 (M35h at the time) enters the Guinness World Records®, completing a standing 400m in 13.9 seconds at the UK's Santa Pod Raceway.


  • 2013

    INFINITI Red Bull Racing

    INFINITI evolves into Official Title and Official Vehicle Performance Partner of INFINITI Red Bull Racing.


  • 2014

    INFINITI Engineering Academy

    INFINITI launches the inaugural engineering academy, with Jason Zide, William Priest and Eric LaRoche winning.


  • 2016

    Renault Sport Formula One™ Team

    INFINITI becomes the Technical Partner to the Renault Sport Formula One™ Team for co-development of the Power Unit’s Energy Recovery System (ERS), providing performance hybrid energy expertise and knowledge.


  • 2017

    Second Generation ERS

    The INFINITI co-developed second generation Energy Recovery System (ERS) is introduced for the first time to all Renault F1® Team’s power units.


  • 2018

    Project Black S Prototype

    INFINITI launches the Project Black S prototype, developed in collaboration with Renault F1® Team and including a world-first, F1-inspired dual-hybrid powertrain.

INFINITI Motor Company Ltd. is headquartered in Hong Kong with representations in 50 markets around the world. The INFINITI brand was launched in 1989. Its range of premium automobiles is currently built in manufacturing facilities in Japan, North America, United Kingdom and China. 

INFINITI design studios are located in Atsugi-Shi near Yokohama, London, San Diego and Beijing. INFINITI is in the middle of a major product offensive.  The brand has been widely acclaimed for its daring design and innovative driver-assistance technologies. From the 2016 season, INFINITI is a technical partner of the Renault F1® Team, contributing its expertise in hybrid performance.
